Tottenham and Arsenal send scouts to watch Ivory Coast international forward
The Red Bull Salzburg forward is a free agent, and the Spurs and Gunners sent scouts to watch him play this weekend, per 90Min.
Salzburg went two points clear at the top of the table after Konate scored both goals in the Austrian Bundesliga victory over Tirol.
In addition to Arsenal and Tottenham, the 19-year-old is reportedly being watched by West Ham and Crystal Palace.
Since leaving Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas for Salzburg in the summer of 2022 for a reported £3 million, Konate has gone a long way.
The young player scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 18 games during his productive loan at FC Liefering in the first half of the campaign.
Konate went back to Salzburg, where he has since established himself as a productive player with 13 goals and 7 assists.
Konate has already tallied 10 goals and six assists for his team this season alone across all competitions.
‘The complete package’
Karim Konate is perhaps the most exciting talent to come out of the Ivory Coast in the last few years, according to scouting publication Breaking the Lines, which published an article in January 2023.
“Konate is the whole package. He can finish like Wilfried Zaha, dribble like Jeremie Boga, and possess the physicality of Sebastian Haller.”
He is leading FC Liefering and the Salzburg youth team in goals scored, which is a sign that he is very good. Erling Haaland, who also played for Salzburg, has been compared to him for this reason.
It is not surprising that teams like Tottenham and Arsenal are keeping an eye on Konate because he appears to be a top talent. Spurs and the Gunners stand a good chance of signing him soon, given Salzburg’s business model, which involves selling players at a profit. There will undoubtedly be fierce competition, though.
