‘Piece of cake’ – Postecoglou says Spurs will not make lousy excuses despite injuries

Ange Postecoglou insists Spurs will not make any excuses despite injuries

Even though the team is missing a few important players, Ange Postecoglou has stated he won’t offer an explanation in the upcoming weeks, affirming that the team’s goal is winning games.

Following the London derby, James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Richarlison have joined Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon, and Ivan Perisic—three long-term absentees—on the treatment table, adding a significant amount of injury for Tottenham.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that Destiny Udogie is suspended for this afternoon’s match at Molineux and that the Lilywhites will be without Cristian Romero for the next three games.

Postecoglou, though, does not believe that will serve as an explanation for the team’s failure to win all three points in the Black Country.

“To be fair, we’ve had plenty of excuses already that we could have used,” the Australian said to Football.London. Though, as far as I can tell, things haven’t been that easy. I know that some people seem to think so. There are many reasons why we shouldn’t be where we are, many justifications for the difficulties and disruptions we’ve already encountered.

It is safe to say that we will not use any excuses to not give our best effort tomorrow. Gary O’Neill is a fantastic young manager, and Wolves are a formidable opponent. Although we have been put to the test in every game, we will undoubtedly face more challenges in this one.

Postecoglou’s decision to stick with a high defensive line and pressure Chelsea even after being reduced to nine players drew a lot of criticism, with some arguing that it was more impractical for him to do so than inexperienced (ESPN FC).

The 58-year-old has since asserted, though, that he took this stance in order to give his team the best chance of winning.

“Trust me, I don’t try to lose games on purpose,” he declared. I’m determined to try to win a football match. I know it’s a little out of the ordinary, and I kind of get that, but trust me when I say that you don’t go from Australia to the Premier League by being conventional. This isn’t the first time that people have called me insane.

“It has brought me this far, and I will keep going because I think it is the only way we can win, not for any other reason. Due to the players’ belief that it was our best chance to stay in the game and attempt to get the necessary equalizer, there were moments on Monday night when it got really intense.

Certain aspects of it most likely contributed to Chelsea’s success in breaking through. On the other hand, I thought the players’ intent and mindset were really admirable. Instead of going back to some other strategies, which, you know, can also be effective, they wanted to try to play our football again.

Postecoglou mocked suggestions that Tottenham would take on Wolves in their first significant test of the season, pointing out that the team has faced a great deal of hardship.

In response to the question of whether or not this afternoon’s match represents Spurs’ first true test, he said, “The first test? Bereaved of this competition’s greatest player the day before the season began? Nope, no problem at all. We lost players to injuries that nearly ended the season. No, don’t be concerned about it.

Tottenham confident Micky van de Ven will not need surgery on injured hamstring

“My career has been filled with tests, but I’ve come to the conclusion that there are only two possible states for a manager: under siege or impending.” I know that nothing goes perfectly every day. There are obstacles in the world all the time.

“I just try to be careful not to alter who I am. What is is, what is. I make an effort to keep my attention on the essentials: we’re still developing as a team and creating a winning atmosphere. It will remain the same week after week.

Even for someone with my experience, losing five players in a single game is pretty extreme, but that doesn’t make it any worse than what we’ve already encountered. It would also be a little disrespectful to these players to claim that everything has gone their way, as it hasn’t. The group has shown true character and resiliency from the beginning, and they will need to demonstrate it once more. It is present already.

We are far less dependent on individual brilliance to save us than we were under Antonio Conte or Jose Mourinho thanks to the system we currently use.

That being said, it is not ideal to lose so many key players at once, and Wolves will undoubtedly be itching for blood.

By scoring within the first 20 minutes of the game, we can help ease the players’ nerves and take the edge off of them early on.
