£27m player now expected to leave Tottenham after Ange Postecoglou fought to keep him last summer

Following Ange Postecoglou’s summertime battle to retain Giovani Lo Celso, journalist Ryan Taylor anticipates the player leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

Argentine forward Taylor’s future has been updated in a recent interview with The Spurs Chat Podcast.

With such a strong preseason under Ange Postecoglou, Giovani Lo Celso has found it difficult to get minutes for Spurs thus far this season.

Since suffering an injury during the August League Cup match against Fulham, the 27-year-old has only been able to make three substitute appearances in the NFL.

During the last fifteen minutes of Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Wolves, Lo Celso replaced the bench. The Argentina international displayed flashes of brilliance, indicating that he might be the best player to take James Maddison’s place in the injury.Tottenham's Giovani Lo Celso set to return against Red Star Belgrade | Football News | Sky Sports

However, journalist Ryan Taylor of the Daily Mirror anticipates that Lo Celso will leave soon.

Lo Celso expected to leave Tottenham

In search of regular first-team football, Taylor thinks Lo Celso will eventually leave Tottenham.

The journalist did, however, further assert that Postecoglou was the one who battled to retain the midfield player throughout the summer.

Regarding Lo Celso, he stated that Postecoglou was a major factor in his decision to remain with the team this summer. However, because Bissouma and Sarr have been so excellent, it hasn’t worked out for him.

Naturally, if Maddison were to break into the starting lineup, Lo Celso would most likely take his place.

He really is somewhere in the middle of an eight and a ten. I really do think that Lo Celso is going to leave at this point.

Giovani Lo Celso delivers the message that all Spurs fans want to hear - football.london

“I believe he should play football on a regular basis because it’s clear he’s had fitness issues. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’ll be happy at Spurs, which is unfortunate because he was a standout player when he joined the team.

Lo Celso had a fantastic preseason at Spurs, scoring twice in three matches and displaying great midfield brilliance.

But because of Maddison’s influence in the early going of the campaign, the £27 million man has found it difficult to get a chance.

Since the Englishman is out until the new year, he could, of course, get some playing time.

Yves Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Pape Matar Sarr were the trio that Postecoglou selected for Spurs on Saturday, and as a result, the team lacked creativity in midfield.

Over the next few weeks, Lo Celso—who appears to be Maddison’s natural successor—will have the opportunity to make an impression.
