Postecoglou reveals yet another two injury issues for Spurs

Prior to Sunday’s encounter against Aston Villa, Ange Postecoglou gave an update on the team during this afternoon’s press conference at Hotspur Way.

After the international break, Tottenham is back in action with the intention of snapping their two-game losing streak, which has caused them to lose their position atop the Premier League standings after heartbreaking losses to Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In addition to Ryan Sessegnon, Ivan Perisic, and Rickardlison still out for the North Londoners, Micky van de Ven and James Maddison are still out for the team, having sustained injuries against Chelsea that will keep them out until 2013.

Ange Postecoglou will have to wait two more games before Cristian Romero can be called up again following his straight red card for violent behavior, but Destiny Udogie is eligible for selection following his one-match suspension.

The Spurs team’s availability to the media is announced in accordance with protocol prior to their matchup with Unai Emery’s team.

Pape Matar Sarr returned with an injury that needs to be evaluated before the weekend, and Postecoglou disclosed that Ashley Phillips will be sidelined for “a little while” following an injury sustained during the international break. A bright spot is that Destiny Udogie is once again in the running.

“There are a few problems,” he stated. He is disappointed that young Ash Phillips will be absent for a short spell. Given that Pape Sarr is experiencing some difficulties of his own, we will examine him and monitor his condition over the course of the next few days.

“All of the others have returned from their overseas assignments safely.”

In response, he said, “Destiny is fine,” when asked about Udogie. Since Biss [Bissouma] is out of the picture for this game, he is definitely accessible, but we will have Destiny back, who has had a good few weeks.

Tottenham will not want to travel north on the chance of a possible four-game losing skid as they prepare for a difficult trip to the Etihad to play champions Manchester City after the Villa match.

Exclusive: Fans really sad as Transfer ban now ‘a real possibility’ for Tottenham as investigation begins

Spurs’ transfer prohibition is now “a real possibility” as the inquiry gets underway.

Football Insider has been informed that Tottenham could face a transfer suspension following the FA’s reopening of the 2008 transfer case involving Jermain Defoe.

Spurs have been charged for negotiating Defoe’s transfer to Portsmouth with an unlicensed agency.

After the £7.5 million sale was completed, the FA looked into the situation and decided not to take any further action.

This week, though, they made it clear that if fresh information is offered, they would be open to reopening the probe.

Prior infractions of the FA’s agent regulations have been met with fines, suspensions from transfers, and point deductions.

Luton Town lost 10 points for identical agent rule violations in the same year as Tottenham’s Defoe probe.

According to sources who spoke with Football Insider, the North London team faces a “real possibility” of a transfer ban should the FA receive further information.

The Times’ investigation indicates that Defoe, Daniel Levy, and Harry Redknapp, the manager of Portsmouth, all interacted with Mitchell Thomas, an unlicensed agent.

Defoe’s transfer was examined again throughout the two-year probe, which revealed fresh information.

Thomas, a former player for Tottenham and West Ham, is said to have been instrumental in the transaction.

Additionally, it is claimed that Levy engaged licensed agent Stuart Peters but neglected to execute the necessary representation contract as mandated by FA regulations.

Levy gave Peters £1 million for his part in the transaction, with £1.5 million in overall agency fees.
