If Nottingham Forest decides to part ways with Steve Cooper, Garry Birtles believes it would be a grave mistake.
The storied European Cup victor has expressed his admiration for Cooper, emphasizing the work that the player has produced in the training camp.
Birtles’ remarks follow rumors that following Forest’s 3-2 loss to Brighton, the head coach’s position is under question.
Birtles discusses future of Cooper
After voicing his opinions about Cooper, The Miracle Man may be said to be right behind the head coach.
The 43-year-old has been the subject of inquiries before since his promotion to the Premier League.
Birtles has argued why Cooper is the best candidate for the position and believes it would be pointless for Forest to fire Cooper.
He stated on the Garibaldi Red podcast: “I don’t see any benefits if they get rid of him. I’ve watched them practice and seen how he puts them up, and it’s amazing to witness; the professionalism is impeccable, the timing is sharp, and the skill is flawless.
“Everything about it is absolutely great to watch. He’s still doing a very, very good job for me. We’re not getting battered but it’s those little mistakes and the avoidable goals but that’s not down to a manager.”
Forest have to stick with Cooper

The Welshman deserves recognition for his behind-the-scenes efforts at Forest, where he has earned his stripes.
Although at a rather sluggish pace, the forest has improved from a year ago. Nevertheless, there are indications that Birtles may be right about Cooper.
The incumbent player for the Reds has made himself available for frequent conversations with the Miracle Men, with the majority of those conversations taking place at the training facility.
With three games remaining in the upcoming week, Cooper has embraced the Forest philosophy, and the head coach deserves some time to turn this team around.
