According to reports, the four-time Rugby World Cup champions, South Africa, have opted to add retired veteran Duane Vermuelen to the coaching group as the new defense coach.
Following the World Cup victory last month, Jacques Nienaber, the former head coach, became a senior coach at Leinster, which is when the change occurred. After winning back-to-back titles, Vermeulen announced his retirement from the game as the coach departed.

There has been conjecture throughout the last part of Vermeulen’s career that he would be retained in the Springboks setup as a coach. SARugbyMag.com reports indicate that the national team has made a choice, but it might not be made public right away.
A job with the Stormers, who admitted they had discussed the prospect with the legendary Springbok, might facilitate Vermuelen’s transition into coaching.
Dobson stated, “We started talking with Duane last year.” We were aware of his impending retirement and his desire to remain in Cape Town. We came to an agreement that he would oversee our pathway’s forwards, which is crucial because it ensures that those individuals are technically sound.
“His technical proficiency is exceptional. Everywhere he goes, he plays the role of both player and coach; in Ulster, he played that role, and I have a strong suspicion that he did the same at the Springboks. It would be fantastic if we could get him up here. However, there are a few conditions.
We are in an odd situation here in the twilight zone where the clubs have accepted the equity agreement, but it hasn’t yet gone through the last steps of signing and competition commission approval.
“Therefore, it is intriguing. We continue to be fully managed by the administration. While the Red Disa consortium is not in complete control, they must also be informed about the expenses we incur during this time. We are unable to burden them with unnecessary expenses.
“We see how Duane fits in here, and we think he is keen to come and we are keen to have him. But it still does need some movement off the field. There’s a will for everybody to make it happen. So hopefully we can get it wrapped up in the next couple of weeks.”
