Jacques Nienaber: Why I left the Springboks!
An explanation for his decision to leave the Springboks has been given by former Bok coach Jacques Nienaber.

Most notably, during his four years as the Springboks’ head coach, Nienaber guided the side to a legendary World Cup victory in France and a historic series victory over the British & Irish Lions.
He recently provided further insight into the reasons for his departure from the Springboks, however he has since assumed a new position as senior coach of Leinster.
All I felt was that I had been away from my family for a long time. According to Nienaber, this is the reason the choice was taken in January or February.
I don’t believe we can handle this for another four years, my wife told me. When the chance to work with Leinster arose again, I was anxious because I didn’t want to lose that cutting edge of being pushed. The kids responded, “Dad, we need you at home.” That is what I think makes you a good coach, therefore I didn’t want to lose that.
“I will face a great deal of challenge in my new role as a coach, which is why this job was a perfect fit for me.” At least I get to spend some time with my family, although there will be high expectations.
NIENABER RECEIVED THE ‘BLESSING’ OF THE SPRINGBOKS
In addition, Nienaber said that his close buddy Rassie Erasmus was understanding of the choice and gave an explanation of his desire to go back to the provincial level.
He stated, “They were pleased with it.” They granted me permission, and we seized the chance to make the announcement as soon as it presented itself since I had never considered leaving South Africa as a place of employment.
Other internationals had made other bids. It wasn’t my place to adapt, relocate, or head north. That was not at all what it was. All I wanted to do was get away from international rugby. That was the cause.
