After hundreds of Newcastle United supporters experienced rail congestion today, Tottenham Hotspur supporters may anticipate a diminished away end.
All southbound trains between Newcastle and King’s Cross were canceled this morning by LNER, the primary rail operator in the area. For many of the 3,000-strong number of Toon scheduled to go to the capital, the news was devastating.
Supporters of the Toon were negatively impacted by emergency cancellations due to damage to the overhead cables connecting Peterborough and Grantham. Fans were forced to make last-minute adjustments or cancel their travel completely due to a notification made by LNER at daybreak.
According to a statement, “the lines between Peterborough and Grantham remain blocked today to allow repairs to be made to the overhead line.” Customers may utilize their tickets for travel on December 11 or 12 if they have tickets dated December 9 or 10, 2023.

The Newcastle United Supporters Club, which has been communicating with the visiting supporters, called the problem “near impossible” to resolve. Supporters of Newcastle who are traveling by rail have been cautioned by LNER not to travel to north London today.
