Tottenham Hotspur have secured a new long-term contract for left back Destiny Udogie having handed him a pay rise to stay in North London.
According to Fabricio Romano, Destiny Udogie will now remain at Tottenham Hotspur for an extended period of time.
In 2022, Udogie finalized his £15.5 million transfer from Udinese by signing a formal contract with Tottenham.
Before Udogie began his Premier League career this season, Spurs permitted him to spend the previous season on loan at Udinese.
Tottenham has now taken action to guarantee the future of the 21-year-old, who has shown exceptional play thus far this season.
Destiny Udogie staying at Tottenham Hotspur
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham and Udogie have finally reached a deal to extend Udogie’s contract.
Romano thinks that once Udogie placed additional terms in writing, a “long term deal” is now in place and “all done.”
Romano continues, “Tottenham has increased Udogie’s salary after being impressed with his Premier League debut.”
Udogie, who opened the scoring for Tottenham in a 4-1 victory against Newcastle United on Sunday, has had a fantastic last twenty-four hours.
The truly amazing thing about Udogie is how, under Ange Postecoglou, he has totally transformed his playing approach.
Udogie played left wing back for Udinese, giving the Serie A team genuine breadth by flying up the flank.
But Postecoglou plays a completely different style of football, bringing his full backs forward to act as extra offensive midfielders in addition to pressing them infield.
Udogie would not have been familiar with it, but Tottenham is witnessing his growth and success in that capacity.
Udogie has no limits, and Tottenham will be overjoyed to have guaranteed his future for many years to come. He will undoubtedly play a significant role in Postecoglou’s squad.
