Why Dejan Kulusevski was wearing a protective mask against Newcastle
Dejan Kulusevski was suffering from a broken nose while playing against Newcastle United, according to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold.
Tottenham lost at home for the third time in a row on Thursday as Kulusevski had a forgettable evening against West Ham. The Swede found it difficult to beat his man and create chances in the remaining third.
In order to put Spurs back on top and resume their winning ways, the 23-year-old was put back into the number 10 position for the match against Newcastle. He performed considerably better than expected.
Kulusevski wore a mask to protect broken nose
It has finally been clarified by Gold why Kulusevski was using a protective mask when he played against Eddie Howe’s team.
The West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta accidentally elbowed the winger in the face during midweek, causing him to break his nose, the man disclosed.
The Tottenham player, according to Gold, was furious about the incident and attempted to protest Paqueta’s elbow to referee Michael Salisbury on Thursday following the final whistle. Richarlison and Destiny Udogie had to restrain him.
The journalist continues by saying that Kulusevski chose to persevere and make himself available despite being a doubt for the match versus Newcastle.
Since Kulusevski is a very aggressive player, it’s possible that his broken nose is bothering him and affecting his performance. Hopefully, it won’t be a major break and will get well quickly.
