    Good news England hire ex-New Zealand coach Andrew Strawbridge as their new skills consultant for upcoming Six Nations campaign – as Steve Borthwick reshuffles his backroom staff

    For the forthcoming Six Nations, England has brought in former All Blacks coach Andrew Strawbridge as a consultant.

    Following the 2023 World Cup, the Kiwi resigned from his position with New Zealand and was hired by Steve Borthwick as a skills coach.

     

    Alongside his arrival, the England coaching group has undergone a change. Former Springboks coach Felix Jones has taken over as defensive coach, replacing Kevin Sinfield, who will now focus on individual skills and kickers.Borthwick stated of the hire, “Andrew is another coach with a wealth of knowledge.”

    He has a wealth of experience and a proven track record in both Super Rugby and international rugby. Most recently, he assisted New Zealand in reaching the Rugby World Cup final in 2023.

    “Andrew has helped many players advance to become among the best in the world and has an amazing reputation in the player development space.” His effort in and around the contact area is highly respected since it guarantees teams get the ball quickly enough to mount a serious attack.”I’m excited for him to join the team and contribute the significant value he will undoubtedly bring.”Next month, England will begin their campaign against Italy in RomeTom Harrison will still be in charge of the scrum, and Richard Wigglesworth will stay on as attack coach.”I am immensely excited to start working with Felix, a coach with an incredible reputation and vast experience in international rugby,” Borthwick continued.

    With his experience playing rugby in Ireland and his extensive expertise of working in the southern hemisphere. He will provide our coaching staff with an additional perspective.
