Report: Tottenham set for crunch talks with Genoa in ‘next few hours’

Reports out of Italy suggest that Tottenham Hotspur and Genoa held important talks last night to thrash out the details of the proposed transfer for Radu Dragusin.

The pursuit of Radu Dragusin has intensified in tandem with Tottenham’s growing need for a replacement center half following the injuries to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven

A month or so ago, the Telegraph suggested that Dragusin might be a target for Spurs. Ever then, Fabrizio Romano has covered the topic extensively, claiming that the Lilywhites had made a bid to Genoa and that the player was delighted to transfer to North London.Romano stated earlier this week that Dragusin’s transfer should happen “very soon” and that all that was needed was an agreement on a price between the two teams.

Speaking with TV Play (via journalist Marco Giordano), Dragusin’s representative stated that while his client would be content to remain in Italy, an offer of between €25–30 million (£21.5–25.9 million) should be sufficient to close a transaction.

Spurs and Genoa deep in discussion over Dragusin

Now, it appears that Genoa is requesting a larger price, perhaps in the neighborhood of €35 million (£30 million). According to a La Repubblica story (via Napoli Magazine), Spurs and Genoa have met to discuss the situation and attempt to find a solution that will allow the purchase to proceed.

It was said that the crucial discussions to resolve the matter will take place in the “next few hours” at the time the report was made publicGenoa is obviously attempting to press Spurs at the last minute to extract a bit more money from Daniel Levy, knowing full well how eager we are to complete this transaction as soon as possible. We need to resolve the transfer as soon as possible, but we also can’t allow pressure to force us to pay more.
