Tyler Baron, a former defensive end for the Tennessee Volunteers, first enrolled in Ole Miss through the NCAA Transfer Portal. That Wednesday night, those plans were altered.
Tyler Baron, a defensive end, had a lot of premium suitors when he first entered the transfer portal on December 8. He made the snap decision to move to Oxford, Mississippi, to play for the Ole Miss Rebels and his old teammate Tamarion McDonald. But a few weeks later, Mcdonald renounced his vow and switched his allegiance to the Louisville Cardinals, and now Baron has made the same decision.

Carrollton High School quarterback Julian Lewis was the No. 1 prospect in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. Lewis had a stellar two-year high school career before committing to the USC Trojans and head coach Lincoln Riley. He reclassified to 2025 on Tuesday morning, and while the Vols aren’t pursuing Lewis, it is of note to them.
Alabama and Georgia were two programs that had continued to recruit Lewis despite his commitment to USC. The Crimson Tide and head coach Nick Saban developed strong relationships with Lewis and his family, but Saban retired this offseason. Alabama is still without a 2025 quarterback, and they were recruiting one of Tennessee’s top options at the position.
Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre told On3’s Chad Simmonsearlier this month that Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee were the three programs that had separated themselves in his recruitment, but that two schools were standing apart from the field. With Underwood off to LSU, you must assume that this is a two-team race between the Crimson Tide and the Vols for the top uncommitted signal caller in the country.
While Lewis’s reclassification doesn’t mean that Alabama will pivot to him and leave MacIntyre, it does give them another national option at a premium position. Seven of the top-10 quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle have already made their college commitments.
