Michail Antonio of West Ham was rendered speechless by Jamie Carragher’s brutal rebuke after Antonio asserted that playing as a striker is more difficult than playing center-half.
Michail Antonio was rendered speechless by Jamie Carragher during their Monday Night Football appearance together.
While discussing Manchester City’s upcoming trip to Brentford, Carragher and Antonio made the claim that the center-back position is the hardest one on the field. The former Liverpool great Antonio noticed the remark and responded, “Something he [Carragher] said earlier, center-half is the hardest place!?”
Carragher shot back at the Englishman, saying, “To be fair, you do make [being] a centre-forward look hard!” as the studio burst into giggles. Antonio abruptly changed the subject after laughing off the remark that had left him speechless.
A fan made the joke, “Lad spends more time on Sky Sports than scoring goals.” “Not as hard as Carragher keeping a straight face while talking to someone wearing that hat!” was the response from the second person.
Another said, “When he’s wearing that hat, I could not take a single syllable seriously and he could produce the best, most searing piece of analysis I’ve ever heard.” Another person said, “This is a textbook example of reacting to a joke before returning to serious matters.” Antonio is naturally gifted.”
Many supporters found it difficult to look past the West Ham player’s outfit selection, so Antonio wasn’t just taking jabs from Carragher. When he appeared on the show wearing a beret, some fans made jokes about how ‘like a mime’ he looked.
The attacker for the Hammers has been out since mid-November due to injury, and he had a setback in January. Regarding his next availability for first-team action after his most recent knock, David Moyes has not stated.
