Linebacker Nick Bolton of the Kansas City Chiefs was fined $8,238 by the NFL for his horse-collar tackle of quarterback Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers during Super Bowl LVIII.

In the second quarter of the Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime victory in Las Vegas on February 11, the incident resulted in a 15-yard penalty.

It was confirmed on Monday that Bolton’s fine was the only one imposed for a violation that occurred during that game. L’Jarius Sneed, the cornerback for the Chiefs, was flagged for an unnecessary roughness call but did not receive a fine.

With 13 tackles, Bolton, 23, tied Fred Warner of San Francisco for the game’s highest total. Against the 49ers, Bolton added two quarterback hits in addition to one tackle for loss.

Bolton was a second-round pick of the Chiefs in 2021. In 41 career regular-season games (37 starts), he has tallied 352 tackles, two sacks, and three interceptions.

Important dates in the San Francisco 49ers’ offseason

NFL Fans React To Oscar Hopeful Saying San Francisco 49ers Name Is Hurtful To Native Americans

Lily Gladstone’s strong remarks regarding the Tomahawk Chop of the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Football 49ers nickname sparked reactions from NFL fans. Gladstone’s performance in the 2017 film “Killers of the Flower Moon” earned her an Oscar nomination for best actress.

The 49ers moniker from San Francisco is sometimes offensive.

Gladstone stated that the 49ers should be held responsible for their offensive nickname toward Native Americans, as was previously covered on GH:

The possibility that the Chiefs’ name might offend Native Americans is known to many Americans. To many, though, the 49ers’ culturally insensitive name may come as a surprise. Gladstone claimed that the 49ers have a problematic name on Variety’s Award Circut podcast, according to Erin Keller of the New York Post:

The California Gold Rush, which was extremely cruel for California Indians, served as the inspiration for the 49ers. The Chiefs came next. The word “chief” can be interpreted in a variety of ways. I’m not bothered by the name. Hearing that d— Tomahawk chop— is the issue.

In what way shape or form is a team based around the California gold rush using Native American imagery?
