On the first day of NFL free agency, former Michigan football offensive lineman has had a fantastic day. Three former Wolverines agreed to lucrative contracts on Monday; none of them were selected in the first round, despite the fact that contracts cannot be officially finalized until Wednesday.

Michael Onwenu was a former sixth-round pick of the New England Patriots and he was expected to garner a huge deal on the open market. He was even serving as his own agent and it was reported that he re-signed with New England for three years, $57 million with $22 million guaranteed.

The former Michigan football standout and 2020 NFL draft selection has started 56 of 64 games in his career with starts at tackle and guard for the Patriots, who traded Mac Jones this week and were recently projected to draft J.J. McCarthy at No. 3 overall.

Another former Michigan football player, Graham Glasgow, a third-round pick of the Lions in 2016, signed a three-year $20 million contract with Detroit after starting 15 games last season. Glasgow is on his second period with the organization, and the 31-year-old may decide to become a Lion in retirement. He’ll get to stay around for the time being in case the team makes a Super Bowl run, after last season’s NFC championship game saw them blow a 17-point lead against the 49ers in the second half.

Not to mention, Jon Runyan Jr., a former offensive tackle for Michigan football, got a $30 million, three-year contract with the Giants. Runyan Jr. is currently a guard for the Green Bay Packers. It’s intriguing that his father was a former Eagle, but it’s encouraging to see Runyan succeed after a strong start to his career in Green Bay.
