So it seems as though there was nothing to worry about regarding West Ham United’s proposed deal to sign Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.
However, cold water was quickly poured on the links with Luis Guilherme, after the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg claimed the teenager’s wage demands were proving to be problematic.
As if those twists and turns weren’t enough, yet another update emerged this morning, with the BBC claiming that the Hammers’ move to sign the teenager was going along smoothly.
I think the bottom line here is that nobody actually knows for sure what is actually going on, aside from those inside the inner circle of the deal itself.
That said, the latest report coming out of Brazil is very encouraging indeed, and it seems as though it might not be too long before Guilherme is announced as a West Ham player…

West Ham close in on stunning Luis Guilherme capture
So the Hammers appear to be very close indeed to signing the wonderfully talented Brazilian teenage sensation.
But what are the fine details of the deal?
Brazilian website UOL claims that, ‘Palmeiras and West Ham are currently sorting out the final details and exchanging documents for the transfer’.
The deal to bring the 18-year-old winger to the London Stadium is set to be worth £20 million in up front fees, plus £5.5 million in potential bonus payments.
That sounds like an awful lot of money for someone so young and relatively unproven, but I think it could end up looking like an absolute steal.
The 18-year-old is a left-footed right winger by trade but can also play on the left, or in the number 10 position.
Guilherme is technically brilliant, as most Brazilians are, and plays with a real kind of fearlessness that makes him so unpredictable.
He has been described as the new ‘Ronaldinho’ (Yahoo) – that’s quite the praise. isn’t it. The Brazilian legend is one of the greatest players to have ever walked the planet.
If Luis Guilherme fulfils his potential, he could end up being an unbelievable signing for West Ham. Let’s hope that Tim Steidten has got this one spot on.
