The native of Louisiana is going to the ACC.

Eli Holstein, a former freshman quarterback for Alabama, declared on Sunday that he would be transferring to Pittsburgh.

Since the transfer portal’s launch on December 4, 15 Crimson Tide players have accessed it, including Holstein. Of the six, he is now the only one who has disclosed a new location.

Holstein was Alabama’s fifth quarterback during the previous season. According to 247Sports, the native of Louisiana was rated as a 4-star recruit and the No. 149 overall prospect in the 2023 class. Along with Dylan Lonergan, he was one of the two quarterbacks from 2023 to sign with Alabama.

This past season, Pittsburgh finished 3-9 overall, including 2-6 against ACC opponents.

The football season for the Alabama Crimson Tide ended last Monday, forcing players to make snap decisions about their playing careers.

Players had five extra days at the end of the year to access the transfer portal, so Crimson Tide players who wanted to do so had to do so by Saturday night at the latest..

According to multiple sources Alabama Crimson Tide safety Jake Pope entered his name in the transfer portal on Saturday.

Pope was considered a 4-star recruit out of Buford High School just outside of Atlanta.

The 247Sports Composite ranked him as the No. 32 safety and the No. 37 player in the state of Georgia in the class of 2022.

The 6-foot-1, 192-pound safety redshirted in 2022 but was able to get into 11 games this past season, largely as a special teamer.

He becomes the Tide’s 18th player to transfer out of the program in the current cycle and the third defensive back departure.

Pope will have three years of eligibility remaining when he finds his new school.
