Only a select few college quarterbacks could be selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft; J.J. McCarthy of the University of Michigan could be one of those quarterbacks.
McCarthy may be able to improve his draft position in the coming weeks by making an impression on some NFL teams prior to the draft, despite the fact that he is not among the top quarterback prospects.
McCarthy has found great mentorship from Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers and the former head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. McCarthy discussed the advice he received from Harbaugh as he prepares to enter the NFL on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
McCarthy remarked, “Just so much wisdom getting passed down.” Things you never gave much thought to. Simple things that seem basic at first, but have significant benefits. One of the main things about him that I like is that. His instruction is extremely clear, simple to comprehend, and profound in a profound sense.
McCarthy received some wise counsel from him regarding how to adjust from college to the NFL level, and he believes the former Wolverines quarterback will be the first player selected at his position in the draft.
McCarthy will, regrettably, have to settle for being the fourth quarterback selected in the first round; Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels are anticipated to go before him.

This year’s spring game on April 20th is a great place to make an impression, as Michigan will be welcoming back a number of prospects.
Recruits have already confirmed their attendance plans, and another promising prospect, offensive tackle Carter Scruggs of Loudoun County, 2026, has secured a trip to Ann Arbor for the spring game in Leesburg, Virginia.
The 270-pound, 6-foot-6 athlete gives a sneak peek at his very first visit to Michigan.
“I’ve never been to Michigan before,” Scruggs said to The Michigan Insider. “I’m excited to see the coaches and the campus. I’m eager to find out more about their coaching style and program as well.
Numerous early offers, including those from Duke, Indiana, NC State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia, have already been accepted by Scruggs.
The Wolverines are still very appealing to the rising lineman even though they haven’t offered a scholarship yet.
Scruggs declared, “I’m very interested in Michigan.” “I like how good they are both academically and in football.”
