Terrion Arnold thanks his mother at the combine and Saban’s wife, “Miss Terry.”
INDIANAPOLIS — Terrion Arnold, a cornerback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, gave his mother a heartfelt message and a million-dollar smile during the serious, no-nonsense NFL scouting combine.
Following his on-field workout at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday, Arnold created the kind of moment that every parent aspires to in an interview with Stacey Dales of the NFL Network.
Following an animated explanation of his on-field efforts, Arnold began by thanking “Miss Terry,” the wife of former Alabama coach Nick Saban.
“I told her it was just like another game when she texted me right before I came out here,” Arnold remarked. “She told me to go out there and give it my all, and that I should be blessed because I am highly favored. Just words of encouragement for her, as in the past.
Terrion said something jovial when Dales asked if Arnold wanted to send a note to his mother Tamala.
“Your son wanted to tell you how proud he is of you, Mom, if you’re watching this right now,” Arnold remarked. “You overcome a lot of adversity and had me at a young age. People were skepticism and disbelief in you. And to be honest, mom, as I always say, just zoom in here, just zoom in — The entire world is watching, Tamala Arnold, and I am incredibly fortunate to have you as my mother. I love you.
You overcome a lot, as I mentioned, and for that reason, I’m going to encourage you to continue shining, just as you raised me to. I’ll never forget my hometown of Tallahassee, Florida; it’s a difficult place to leave behind. I hope everyone back home is proud of me because I gave it everything I had.
Arnold continued, saying that viewers ought to be prepared for more at Alabama’s on-campus pro day.
He remarked, “You guys tune into pro day because it’s going to be a show.”
Arnold placed first in the position drills and ran a 40-yard dash in 4.50 seconds. Mel Kiper Jr.’s most recent Big Board ranks him as the 17th prospect, and he is predicted to be one of the first cornerbacks chosen in the NFL draft.
