ANN ARBOR, Michigan Shops in Ann Arbor are enjoying the University of Michigan football team’s national championship and the entire season, which led to a spike in sales of Wolverine gear among other things.
One company benefiting from the Wolverines’ successful football season, Rose Bowl victory, and national championship victory over Washington is the M Den in Ann Arbor.
As the official retailer of Michigan Athletics merchandise, the company specializes in selling gifts, accessories, and clothing for men, women, and children.
Owner of The M Den Scott Hirth stated, “Nothing drives sales like a successful football season.”
According to Hirth, the Wolverines played fewer home games this season than in previous years, which usually results in lower sales. In any case, he claimed that The M Den’s accomplishments this year have contributed to a “historic start” for 2024.
Following the national championship game on January 8, the company added about 150 products to its inventory. According to Hirth, customers can anticipate seeing new products added to stores on a daily basis.
At its distribution center, the retailer has started to operate around the clock, adding 20 extra employees during the day and another 20 to 30 during the evening. According to Hirth, the additional assistance will be needed for a few months.
He declared, “It’s fantastic, and we’re just going to work around the clock for a little while to make sure that all of our wonderful customers and fans are taken care of as they all celebrate this national championship.”
The M Den experienced a similar triumph with Michigan’s 1997 national championship, and it still has some merchandise honoring that achievement on its shelves.
The M Den has been getting ready for this year for years, even though it might have taken decades to win again, according to Hirth. The M Den will be affected by the national championship, he said, for at least a year. He also expressed his belief that the excitement will extend into the upcoming football season.
Even in the event that we did not win the national championship, he said, “It’s a historic football season.” “I expect a lot of things to impact (the next) football season, especially being national champions, and it should be a lot of fun.”
Although co-founder of Underground Printing Rishi Narayan hasn’t won a national football championship since the company’s founding in 2001, he thinks there will be a market for the company’s products well into the upcoming season.
According to Narayan, there is a demand for both standard Michigan apparel and items related to the Rose Bowl and the National Championship.
“When we first started the business and started selling Michigan apparel, this is the season that we dreamed of,” he remarked.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Narayan expressed his happiness that Ann Arbor and the surrounding businesses are being impacted by Michigan football’s national championship. By enticing former teammates and admirers to come shopping and enjoy Ann Arbor, Narayan hopes to contribute to the escalation of this victory, he stated.
“I believe that the excitement surrounding the team and the fans joining in to travel to Ann Arbor for a game day will be really cool,” he remarked. “When we succeed in sports, it lifts up our town.”
