Over the course of NFL Wild Card weekend, twelve former Michigan players were active.
Three players—receiver Ronnie Bell, kicker Jake Moody, and cornerback Ambry Thomas—received a first-round bye with the San Francisco 49ers and will host Green Bay on Sunday. Seven players advance to this week’s Divisional Round.
The former Wolverines performed as follows in the first round:
Detroit Lions
defensive end Hutchinson Aidan
In a 24-23 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, the 2022 No. 2 overall pick caused havoc with six tackles, two sacks, and five quarterback hits. On Sunday, the second-seeded Lions will play Tampa Bay, the fourth seed.
Graham Glasgow, an offensive guard
Against the Rams, the eight-year veteran started and participated in every offensive snap.
Donovan Peoples-Jones, the receiver
Peoples-Jones was not targeted and only saw two offensive snaps, but he did have one successful punt return for four yards. He and the Cleveland Browns traded for him in the middle of the season.
Dallas Cowboys
Cornerback Lewis Jourdan
Lewis had a difficult day, as did the Cowboys defense as a whole, giving up 415 yards in a 48-36 home loss to the seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers. The third-round pick from 2017 participated in 75% of defensive snaps but did not log any snap total.
Tight end Luke Schoonmaker
The rookie second-round pick from Dallas saw 19 offensive snaps and gained 7 yards from his lone target.
Mazi Smith, a defensive tackle
The rookie first-round selection did not log any stats in his four snaps of play.
Packers
Defensive lineman Rashan Gary
Gary, who finished the regular season with nine sacks, had a quiet afternoon, recording one quarterback hit and one tackle in 39 defensive snaps. in 2019 as a first-round selection.
Offensive guard Jon Runyan Jr.
The 2020 sixth-round selection made his debut at right guard while the Packers’ quarterback, Jordan Love, had an incredible performance.
Houston Texans
Receiver Nico Collins
The Texans, who defeated the Cleveland Browns 45-14 to go to the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, are led by their third-year player, who is still on a roll. During the regular season, Collins, who ranked eighth in the NFL in receiving, caught six of seven targets for 96 yards and a touchdown.
Philadelphia Eagles
Defensive end Brandon Graham
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers crushed the Eagles 32–9 on Monday night, but 35-year-old Graham had five tackles—three of which were for loss—and a sack.
Kansas City Chiefs
Defensive end Michael Danna
The Chiefs defeated the Miami Dolphins 26-7, and the 2020 fifth-round pick played 70% of the snaps while recording one tackle. On Sunday, No. 2 seed Buffalo will visit No. 3 seed Kansas City.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Center Mason Cole
In Monday’s 31-17 loss to the Bills, the Steelers saw the 2018 third-round selection get off to a start.
